How microneedling works
HOW IT WORKS
SkinPen creates thousands of tiny, controlled channels in the skin. Your skin responds by repairing them, producing new collagen and elastin over the following weeks. That's why results build gradually rather than all at once.
We use SkinPen because it's FDA-cleared, uses a sterile single-use cartridge for every client, and lets us adjust depth for different areas of the face.

What to expect

We apply numbing cream for about 20–30 minutes first. The treatment itself takes around 30 minutes, so plan for about an hour in total.

Downtime
Expect redness similar to a mild sunburn for 24–72 hours, followed by a few days of dryness or light flaking. Most people return to work the next day.

Results
Skin often looks brighter within a week. Collagen builds over 4–6 weeks, and results continue improving across a series of sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
Planning for an event? Book at least 1–2 weeks ahead so any redness and flaking have fully settled.
Aftercare
Skip makeup for 24 hours.
Use a gentle cleanser and the post-care products we provide.
Avoid retinoids, acids and exfoliants for 3–5 days.
Avoid sweating, saunas and direct sun for 48 hours.
Wear SPF 30 or higher every day, especially during your series.

How long is microneedling downtime?
Most people have redness for 24–72 hours and mild dryness for a few days after. Many return to work the next day.
How many microneedling sessions will I need?
Most clients do 3–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Deeper acne scarring may need more. We'll give you a realistic number at your consultation.
Microneedling or a chemical peel for acne scars?
Microneedling is usually better for textured scars because it rebuilds collagen beneath them. Peels work more on the surface, which makes them better for discoloration left behind by breakouts. Many plans combine both.
With numbing cream, most people feel light pressure and a mild scratching sensation. Bony areas like the forehead can feel a little more sensitive.
Does microneedling hurt?
Is microneedling safe for darker skin?
Yes. SkinPen is cleared for all skin types, and because it doesn't use heat, the risk of dark spots afterward is lower than with many lasers. Good aftercare and daily SPF keep that risk low.
